VSF alumni spotlights
"The VSF Program empowered me to find purpose in the work we do every day as TEAM Lilly, creating solutions for fundamental, unsolved problems in human health. Even as a fellow, your work has the potential to have population-level impact for patients through any number of strategic, business and clinical objectives, which I found deeply rewarding and fulfilling. The networking opportunities inherently built into the VSF program ensured that I, and other fellows, discovered what work we do and didn't enjoy doing – this was critical framing to have as emerging talent."
Anthony Suaverdez, PharmD.
2021 Fellow – Medical College of Wisconsin, School of Pharmacy
associate director, Clinical development trial leader
"The VSF program provided an invaluable introduction to Lilly and helped shape the foundation of my career. One of the most important lessons I learned was that technical knowledge is only part of what drives success; understanding the culture, building relationships, and remaining open to new opportunities are equally important. The guidance and mentorship I received during my fellowship gave me the confidence to navigate my career journey and prepared me for leadership roles. My advice to current and future fellows is to keep an open mind, embrace every learning opportunity, and allow your experiences to help define your path."
Nicole Keillier-Steele, Ph.D.
2010 Fellow - Florida International University
executive director, Global patient safety pharmacoepidemiologist
"The Visiting Scientist Fellowship Program cultivated my foundational understanding of medicine development and cross-functional collaboration, while establishing a strong professional network and shaping my career trajectory. The program is the cornerstone of my multi-decade career in which I have had the opportunity to contribute to dozens of molecules that have impacted patients around the world."
Kristine Leah Healey, Pharm.D.
2000 Fellow – Butler University, College of Pharmacy
