As a Sr. Financial Associate at Lilly Canada, you will provide strategic direction and lead budget management for the therapeutic classes and functions that you support. You will participate and produce the annual business plan, 8 quarter rolling forecast, as well as qualitative/quantitative inputs for various business projects. You will produce an investment priority grid and provide OPEX and resource prioritization recommendations by using various quantitative tools and financial analysis.

Key responsibilities:

You will deliver valuable financial analysis and recommendations to drive effective decision-making for business partners
  • In your role you will serve as a business consultant to functions and product brand teams, you will provide ongoing financial support and analysis to enhance business partner’s ability to make quality and timely business decisions
  • You will anticipate issues your business partners may face in light of changing environmental and economic conditions, provide analysis and make recommendations for action
  • You will understand affiliate sales line risks and clearly outline the impact to the business
You will co-lead the annual planning process, quarterly forecast and Business Plan process by providing the groundwork for Lilly’s strategic direction and alignment with Lilly’s affiliate priorities
  • You will assess, challenge and recommend action on strategic direction as well as financial submissions
  • You will develop functional and brand business forecasts, ensure all plans are aligned with Lilly resource decisions and investment priorities, handle operating budgets and recommend resource prioritization
  • Ensure accuracy and timeliness of SAP submissions to Corporate
  • Gather information required for Sales, OPEX, OID & BUC
  • Work across boundaries and generally understand other functions/brands and their impact on overall affiliate financial performance
You will provide accounting and financial support
  • Demonstrate your deep understanding of budgets and help business partners manage to plan/forecast
  • Prepare business presentation on a monthly basis clearly articulating the business drivers and the upcoming rolling forecast
  • Compile account reclassifications and account reconciliations
Coordinate and lead OPEX roadmap process to achieve affiliate BUC target
  • Work with team to identify, coordinate and prepare contingency of OPEX for potential cost savings
  • Identify OPEX contingencies available and communicate to budget managers, including more effective ways of spending remaining funds in alignment with brand/functional strategy and priorities
  • Understand business issues outside of areas supported and opportunities for OPEX savings
Provide technical and functional guidance to Senior Leadership, Budget Managers and Brand Leaders
  • Uphold integrity of SAP financial transactions for Financial Planning and Reporting
  • Manage OPEX and corporate R&D budgets of ~$200 million

Education and training
  • BA or MBA
  • Minimum 5 years prior work experience in a financial or planning/budgeting role
  • Experience/knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry is an asset
