Position Summary:

The PRSA Operations, Strategy & Transformation Associate Director position was created to support the Lilly Puerto Rico (PRSA) General Manager in advancing the PRSA Affiliate’s operations, strategy, and transformational priorities.  This position will work cross-functionally with business partners in PRSA and Lilly USA (LUSA) to drive various strategic projects and key capabilities vital to the PRSA Affiliate’s short- and long-term interests.  This includes leading critical projects and processes such as the annual Business Planning and Strategic Planning Process. 

The incumbent will work independently to deliver on their mandate, tapping expertise as required, garnering support from key stakeholders, and dealing with ambiguous problems.  It is essential that the individual be self-motivated, passionate, resilient, accountable, adaptable, and agile.  The individual must have the courage to innovate and accelerate processes crucial to our Affiliate’s performance.

Key responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate knowledge of the PRSA Affiliate’s Purpose, Vision, Mission, Strategies, Objectives, Products, Processes, Principles, Practices, and Capabilities
  • Document, maintain and measure the effectiveness of the Affiliate strategies and capabilities; Identify inefficiencies; Prioritize opportunities for improvement; Work cross-functionally to scope, secure approvals and implement actions to drive strategies and capabilities
  • Continuously seek opportunities to improve the PRSA Affiliate’s people, governance, processes and systems; Identify, test, measure, organize and share key learnings
  • Partner with PRSA GM to drive transformational goals; Assist with organizational change management
  • Develop trusting relationships across Marketing, Sales, HR, Medical, IDS, E&C, Finance, LVA, and Operations; Participate in key strategic sessions to optimize Affiliate performance and execution of business-critical strategies
  • Establish a robust network of relationships with crucial stakeholders in LUSA; Communicate Affiliate needs and influence decisions impacting PRSA
  • Partner with PRSA GM on communications and communications strategy with internal stakeholders in PRSA and LUSA
  • Oversee critical PRSA Affiliate programs (e.g., Global HSE Program)
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required, assigned, or requested


  • Partner with PRSA Finance to lead and coordinate the annual PRSA Business Planning Process; Work cross-functionally with the PRSA GM, Finance, Marketing, and others to establish a robust Business Plan consistent with our long-term Strategic Plan
  • Find operational gaps (e.g., what processes are getting in the way of PRSA being an efficient organization) and develop/execute a plan to address; Promote efficiency & identify and act where bureaucracy can be reduced
  • Identify and improve key business processes and decision rights in partnership with PRSA and LUSA team
  • Supervise day-to-day office operations of the PRSA Affiliate, including salesforce operations and strategy
  • Ensure PRSA Business Continuity Plan positions the Affiliate for effective management in crisis situations
  • Manage and facilitate the planning, implementation, and discussion during monthly PRSA Staff Meetings, including reviewing Prior Month Actions, issue management, etc.


  • Lead the bi-annual PRSA Strategic Planning Process; Develop and execute key strategic initiatives and capabilities; Drive strategic change and track progress
  • Identify strategic gaps (e.g., in what areas is PRSA lagging relative to our internal or external competitors) and develop/execute a plan to address
  • Partner with the GM/HR to maintain a high level of employee engagement around the PRSA Purpose, Mission, Vision, and Strategy


  • Lead emerging business imperative initiatives vital to the PRSA Affiliate’s success
  • Drive transformational action items aligned to strategic initiatives and key capabilities outlined in PRSA Strategic Plan
  • Partner with LUSA Strategy & Operations Team to ensure strategic alignment on key projects and transformation goals


  • This position will supervise the PRSA Salesforce Operations & Capabilities Position
  • This position will supervise the PRSA Office Support Associate Position
  • This position will report dotted line to the Assoc. VP Global Customer Transformation & LUSA Operations Position

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • At least 5 years of pharmaceutical industry experience; strong familiarity with U.S. Commercial business
  • Qualified candidate must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States. Lilly 
    does not anticipate providing sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B or TN status) for this position

  • Strong business acumen with demonstrated ability to think strategically and navigate ambiguity
  • Bias for Action with ability to diagnose business problems, create and implement solutions, and translate strategy to action
  • Robust prioritization and decision-making skills with an attention to detail
  • High level of self-motivation with the tenacity to solve complex problems and the capacity to manage multiple complex projects
  • Excellent communication in English and Spanish (written & verbal)
  • Six-Sigma and/or strong project management skills/experiences
