Responsibilities:
The Post Doctoral Scientist is responsible for conducting basic and applied research as an individual contributor at the Lilly Biotechnology Center as a member of the Elanco Target Generation Team. The primary research will be therapeutic antibody engineering focused within neuroscience with the goal of multiple applications in animal health. A strong foundation in molecular biology techniques as well as exposure to and demonstration of in vivo model design and execution will be required to proactively search for solutions in this discovery driven team.

Key Objectives/Deliverables
  • Construct and execute experiments to test hypotheses for therapeutic targets underlying animal health conditions.
  • Engineer antibodies for animal health therapeutics.
  • Openly share knowledge and key learnings.
  • Develop, refine, and transfer in vitro and in vivo assays capable of screening therapeutic candidates. Efficiently and effectively manage project deliverables to provide support for multiple projects at multiple phases.
  • Generates, interprets, troubleshoots and effectively communicates (both in writing and orally) analytical information to team members, project leader, and management.
  • Maintains awareness of molecular biology, assays, and pharmaceutical industry trends.
  • Demonstrates proficiency at data reporting, interpretation, and trending.
  • Demonstrates good documentation skills with regard to raw data recording and protocol authouring.

  • PhD degree in immunology, structural biology, or molecular biology or related scientific discipline and/or M.D or D.V.M.
  • Excellent communication skills and willingness to interact with laboratory personnel, contractors and management.
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems and identify solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team
  • Occasional travel per business need (mainly US).
  • This position is not permanent. It is for a fixed duration of two years with potential to extend annually for up to 4 years.
