The Protein Biosciences Group at the Lilly Biotechnology Center-San Diego is seeking a highly skilled scientist to join the Mammalian Protein Expression Team. As part of our team, you will be involved in cell line generation and expression of a variety of proteins in support of antibody discovery and early phase development of numerous large molecule therapeutics. Responsibilities:

The primary focus for this role is the development and implementation of processes that aid in the expression of proteins from mammalian cell lines. Prior experience with handling mammalian cell lines in a tissue culture environment is required. You will also contribute by:

  • Performing plasmid DNA based transfections and maintain cell lines through cryopreservation
  • Devising and implementing novel ways for the expression of a variety of different proteins of interest, including secreted and membrane bound proteins
  • Paying attention to detail and showcasing meticulous scientific thinking

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in biochemical sciences (biology, molecular biology, or similar field)
  • At least 2 years of post-degree relevant experience

Additional Skills/Preferences:

  • Master's degree in biological sciences or related field
  • Experience with protein expression characterization techniques such as FACS analysis, ELISA, Western blotting, Immunofluorescence
  • Ability to perform basic molecular biology techniques, such as cloning, plasmid DNA preparation and characterization is considered a plus
  • Individuals with experience in a clinical cell line development setting are encouraged to apply
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills and positive attitude
  • Strong work planning, record keeping and data analysis skills
