Analyst, Accounting and Tax

Position:              Contract (18 months)

Reports to:         Controller

Head office role –This role is determined to be a flexible worker, where on-site presence in the Toronto office is expected to be 4-12 days per month, as determined by your manager and business needs.

Responsibilities 

As a global company, we are committed to making life better for people and communities around the world.  The various roles in Finance and Accounting are critical to enabling our internal business partners to deliver on our promise.

Reporting directly to the Controller, you have a strong financial acumen, proven analytical skills, ability to collaborate with business partners, good problem-solving skills and have an ownership mentality.

Accounting (40%)

  • Process general accounting entries for each reporting period and perform account analysis and reconciliations of balance sheet accounts
  • Identify risks and potential adjustments for various reserves
  • Prepare and submit payment requests and intercompany billings, and review clearing accounts
  • Interpret and evaluate results, prepare documentation and presentations to business partners
  • Lead employee expense report training, provide guidance on available tools, facilitate ongoing support, and update quarterly compliance dashboard

Tax (60%)

  • Provide support on transfer pricing and corporate tax compliance
  • Prepare information requests for income tax accounting and reporting
  • Prepare and file sales tax returns
  • Assist with tax audits, research and analysis, written correspondence and memos, and assigned projects

Other

  • Demonstrate ability to lead process improvements
  • Leader for special projects assigned by Management
  • Contribute to Lilly’s culture and support Team Lilly

Education and Experience 

  • CPA graduate or near the completion, with at least five years of accounting and operations experience
  • 3 + years of experience with corporate tax and sales tax experience
  • SAP knowledge is an asset
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Teams, Word, Power Point, especially Excel)
  • Driven, customer-focused and results-oriented individual with attention to detail
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, able to clearly identify issues and bring them to resolution
  • Solid written and verbal communications skills, with the ability to prepare professional memos and documents
  • Ability to partner successfully with different management levels of local and global partners

Additional Information
