Through recognizing the value of a hardworking, diverse, and inclusive workforce, SMDD delivers on these responsibilities and helps bring the next generation of life changing medicines to patients.

Our team is looking for experienced, creative, and energetic candidates who will focus on the integration of early clinical and commercialization activities specifically regarding solid-state characterization, including single crystal x-ray crystallography, x-ray powder diffraction indexing, crystal structure prediction, and solid form selection in support of pre-clinical studies, clinical studies, drug manufacturing, drug product design, and global regulatory submission support.

Candidates must possess a strong background in solid-state sciences to fulfill responsibilities in drug product development which include:

  • Growing single crystals and collecting single crystal diffraction data

  • Structure elucidation based on single crystal diffraction data

  • Indexing x-ray powder diffraction data to aid in determination of structural phase information

  • Oversee utilization of crystal structure prediction with risk analysis for polymorph formation

  • Partnering with and influencing teams in both discovery and development to solve complex technical problems associated with structure and form

  • Identify and implement solid-form screening and characterization

  • Exceptional learning agility to apply solid-state principles to novel therapeutic modalities e.g., peptides and oligonucleotides
