It is an exciting time to be part of the Lilly team. Do you have extensive knowledge in mechanistic enzymology, enzyme characterization, enzyme kinetics, and protein biochemistry and biophysics? The Quantitative Biology and Biophysics Department in Lilly Research Laboratories is seeking a highly skilled enzymologist to join our team located at Lilly Corporate Center, Indianapolis, IN. We hope you will consider this opportunity to help lead our efforts to impact and improve the lives of our patients.

In this role you will:

  • Provide support and expertise to enzyme programs across different therapeutic areas, from target validation to clinical candidate selection.
  • Lead a team of scientists focused on target enablement and execution
  • Lead project strategy and direction in collaboration with the Therapeutic Area, Chemistry and Structural Biology.
  • Characterize the mechanisms of novel enzymes and proteins.
  • Identify options for hit identification approaches.
  • Design and perform assays to identify the mechanism of action of ligands.
  • Develop binding assays using SPR, ITC or radioactive probes.
  • Develop methods to assess compound activity in cell-based assays.
  • Support the implementation of new assay technologies.
  • Contribute on multidisciplinary teams, presenting scientific data in support of research projects.

Basic Qualifications

  • A Ph.D. in enzymology/biochemistry or related field with a strong publication record.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience post education or training

Additional preferred skills:

  • Strong capability to collaborate with scientist in multiple subject areas
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong work ethic. Scientific curiosity. Can do, will do attitude.
  • Biotech or pharma sector experience would be an advantage.
  • Experience/knowledge in one or more of the following therapeutic areas: Oncology, Immunology, Cardiovascular, Metabolic Diseases, and Neurosciences
  • Sound knowledge of the drug discovery process.
