The Predictive Maintenance Vibration Technician will provide condition-based vibration analysis services and technical support to all Lilly Indianapolis sites. The focus of this position is to provide predictive maintenance expertise to reliably maintain critical manufacturing process and utility equipment.

The Vibration Technician is expected to understand the needs and requirements of their business partners and deliver exceptional technical support and service.

Key Objectives/Deliverables:
  • Collect and analyze vibration data on rotating equipment. Issue reports on findings and recommendations for repair and improvements to the equipment owners.
  • Partner with Maintenance Supervisor & Planner on work order backlog.
  • Maintain and update equipment route lists and databases in the predictive maintenance software.
  • Consult with requester(s) to optimize PdM workloads and cycles.
  • Participate in and provide technical support for the troubleshooting, RCM and Root Cause Failures Analysis processes.
  • Perform vibration baseline and acceptance testing on new equipment.
  • Utilize CMMS (Maximo) to document work and labor hours.
  • Responsible for the adherence of all Lilly Health, Safety & Environmental and Quality/GMP rules and regulations.
  • Maintain compliance with all required Safety, Quality and Technical training requirements.
  • High School diploma/GED with related skilled trade maintenance experience.
  • Completion of Post Offer Exam, Completion of Work Simulation or Completion of Administrative Skills Testing if applicable

  • Certificate or degree from a Technical Institute or University with related skilled trade maintenance experience.
  • Current Level 1-3 certification through Vibration Institute
  • Committed to achieving Level II Vibe Institute Certification within 2 years
  • Demonstrated high learning agility and motivation
  • Knowledge/Experience in the precision maintenance of mechanical systems/rotating equipment.
  • Basic knowledge of Condition-Based Maintenance practices and Vibration analysis processes
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot mechanical equipment malfunctions and recommend effective solutions.
  • Strong understanding of electro-mechanical fundamentals
  • Must be able to speak, read and write English at a sufficient level to communicate technical and business information effectively.
  • Computer literate, must be able to effectively use Lilly business and technical software programs, such as; Maximo, RBMWare, Microsoft Office Suite and other required software programs.
  • Technical Associates degree or higher
  • Working knowledge of a secondary predictive technology (Tribology, Infrared, Motor current analysis, ultrasound)
  • Previous experience collecting and analyzing vibration data on mechanical equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and in a collaborative team environment.
  • Self-managed individual with a focus on area ownership and meeting business partner expectations.
  • Desire to stay current with new and emerging technology/innovations
  • Monday-Friday day shift position with up to 5% travel requirement
  • The ability to work with or around equipment, climb ladders and stairs and use a wide variety of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment). May be exposed to harsh weather conditions as part of the job.
  • Must be able to achieve Level 1 & 2 Vibration Institute certifications within an agreed time frame.
  • Overtime will be required during shutdowns, emergency situations, or periods of heavy workloads.
  • Work with and around potentially dangerous and hazardous equipment, powders, liquids and gasses. Safety is paramount for this position.
