PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

The postdoctoral fellow position will involve the application of chromatography techniques to analyze samples of various types of matrices and molecule classes including but not limited to peptides, proteins, synthetic oligonucleotides (e.g., siRNAs), and cell and gene therapy moieties.

  • Chromatographic method development
  • Develop/leverage state of the art separation capabilities
  • Improve fundamental understanding of retention and separation mechanisms for synthetic oligonucleotides, peptides and proteins
  • Participate in the development of project proposals including objectives and design with the goal of external publication to highlight this work

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Identify and monitor disruptive analytical technologies as well as trends in separation sciences involving peptides, proteins, and siRNAs
  • Demonstrate high learning agility by identifying and exploiting new scientific concepts, strong technical problem-solving skills, and be self-motivated to achieve quality results in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to work in a collaborative, cross-functional team-oriented environment
  • Embrace diverse thought, background and experience to deliver innovative solutions

NATURE OF THE WORK:

Technical Excellence –The successful candidate will apply broad scientific knowledge and laboratory skills to solve challenging chromatographic problems with regard to the separation of peptides, proteins, or synthetic oligonucleotides.  The ideal candidate will have experience in method development leveraging multiple modes of chromatography which may include SEC, IEX, HPLC, UHPLC, LC-MS and CE-MS instrument platforms, and 2D LC MS platforms. 

Minimum Requirements:

  • PhD in Chemistry, Biochemistry or related discipline

Additional Skills and Preferences:

  • Capable of navigating multiple instrumental control software and data analysis environments, able to integrate data and implement innovative data analysis workflows, have strong technical problem-solving ability and have an internal motivation to work independently and achieve efficient, high quality results in a fast-paced environment. 
  • In addition, the candidate must be able to clearly articulate their work and collaborate effectively with other scientists.

  • Location: Indianapolis, IN
  • This position is not permanent. It is for a fixed term position up to a maximum of 4 years.
