    Position summary:

    The IDS Automation Architect will be accountable for leading and establishing enterprise automation technologies and capabilities by researching industry innovations and trends, uncovering business use cases, and driving solutions needed to accelerate the business outcomes for the enterprise. This role will work closely with the enterprise automation capability delivery program, collaborating and aligning on strategy, plans, and outcomes.  


    Responsibilities:

    • Research Externally: Use external information to bring progressive, forward-thinking solutions forward to advance Lilly’s automation capabilities. Direct and council leadership about ground-breaking technologies and trends. Anticipate and communicate the implications of technical decisions on the business, systems, and project timelines.

    • Partner: Build effective partnerships and champion continual collaboration across IDS to learn and anticipate business trends. Collaborate and investigate to understand business needs and use-cases for automation. Uncover untapped opportunities by driving ideation sessions and conversations.

    • Influence strategy: Provide strategic recommendations to bring in new technologies, maximize the value of current assets, and move away from others. Build roadmaps and gain consensus from enterprise architecture. Influence program priorities based on business need and value gain for Lilly business outcomes.

    • Lead implementations: Drive key automation program initiatives and technology roadmaps. Lead compliant/secure tech implementation. Influence/direct automation toolset implementations to be aligned with strategic roadmap and standards.

    • Drive and enable adoption: Maximize value derived from toolset by increasing knowledge across IDS of capabilities and how to maximize the services and technologies. Expose and overcome barriers.

    • Managing portfolio: Ensure toolset portfolio is kept fresh and advantageous. Drive modernization efforts.

    • Establish standards: Design enterprise principles and standards for automation based on anticipated and repeated needs across projects, value drivers, and regulations. Document and champion these principles, guidelines, patterns, and methodologies across business and IT project teams, and ensure they are well understood and adopted.

    Basic Qualifications:

    • A bachelor's degree in an IT subject area (computer science, information systems, or related field.)

    • A minimum of 5 years of in-depth experience in designing and implementing IT solutions.

    Additional Preferences:

    • Demonstrated influence, communication, presentation, and facilitation skills.

    • Ability to challenge appropriately and motivate others.

    • Ability to assess rapidly evolving technologies and apply them to business needs.

    • Experience with automation technologies.

    • Experience working in pharma / life sciences.

    • Have a track record of remaining unbiased toward specific technologies or vendors.

    • Display intellectual curiosity and integrity.

    • Ability to understand the long-term ("big picture") and short-term perspectives of situations.
