The mission of the Operations Improvement Team is to utilize sound engineering principles to safely create, qualify, maintain and continuously improve the processes, facilities and equipment needed to carry out the manufacturing mission. In support of this mission, the engineer is expected to lead and facilitate initiatives in manufacturing, quality and other business units that result in productivity improvement and variability reduction. These results are accomplished by utilizing various elements of the engineering discipline including, but not limited to: first principles, lean manufacturing, and simulation/modeling.

Key Objectives/Deliverables

Make Life Better

  • Provide technical and project management support to sites within global manufacturing, quality and other business units.
  • Support and lead projects in the areas of process design, process optimization, lean manufacturing, variability reduction, simulation, and operations management.

Deliver Strong Business Results

  • Participate in multi-disciplinary teams within manufacturing, quality and other business units that result in productivity improvements with cost saving benefits.
  • Share learning and knowledge across business functions and units through the publication of technical reports and presentation of project results.

Speed Innovation

  • Promote and apply Engineering principles to speed the next generation of Lilly products to patients.
  • Build Engineering capabilities to meet evolving business needs.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Demonstrated problem solving, project management, interpersonal and communication (both verbal and written) skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work within and lead diverse, multi-functional teams (i.e. engineering, manufacturing operations, TS/MS, etc.).
  • Ability to identify and resolve issues with minimal direction.
  • 0-3 years of experience

Additional Preferences:

  • Simulation/modeling experience (i.e. ExtendSlM)

  • Manufacturing and/or multi-cultural project experience

Education Requirements:

  • BS in an engineering discipline (e.g. ChE, ME, IE)

Other Information:

  • Domestic (including Puerto Rico) and International travel (~10%).
  • The Engineering Tech Center supports global M&Q and therefore short term assignments at manufacturing sites may be required.
