Provide electrical maintenance support for Indianapolis manufacturing sites. This position will focus on equipment uptime and reliability. The applicant will work closely with Production, Engineering, Quality Control and various other groups to troubleshoot, maintain and perform electrical corrective and preventative maintenance and project support on production and utility related equipment. Voltages will range from 12 volts up to and including 480 volt.

Key Objectives/Deliverables:
  • Diagnose basic electrical problems, to effect repairs and restore equipment/systems to operating condition (e.g., lighting circuits, 3-wire control circuits, 120V circuitry, heat tracing, motor resets, fuse changes, breaker resets, etc).
  • Diagnose complex electrical problems to effect repairs and to restore equipment/systems to operating condition (e.g., interlocking process controls, PLC controlled systems, malfunctioning equipment).
  • Recommend and make design changes to electrical/electronic systems and/or to controls to improve efficiency of system operations (e.g., programmable logic controllers, process and lab equipment).
  • Install/replace basic electrical equipment (e.g., switches, fuses, cables, circuit breakers, light fixtures, raceways, conduit, disconnects, temporary power) including sizing if necessary.
  • Install/replace complex electrical equipment (e.g., motor control centers, main switch gear, etc.).
  • Perform Preventive maintenance on basic electrical equipment (e.g., emergency lights, portable tools, lamp replacement, insect-o-cutters, disconnects, receptacles, ground checks, etc.).
  • Perform Preventive maintenance on complex electrical equipment (e.g., motor control centers, vari-speed drives, programmable logic controllers, etc).
  • Install/operate/perform preventive maintenance on emergency back-up systems (e.g., batteries, generators, Uninterruptable Power Supply Systems, etc)
  • Operate basic test equipment (e.g., VOM, Amprobe, Meggar, Voltage Tester).
  • Operate complex test equipment (e.g., power analyzer, amperage and voltage recording equipment, D.C. hypot, circuit breaker tester).
  • Provide accurate, complete, and legible Work Order documentation on both paper copy (when required) and in GMARS.
  • A minimum of 5 years journeyman level electrician experience in a heavy industrial environment
  • Associates Degree in an electrical discipline or High school diploma/GED
  • Completion of Post Offer Exam, Completion of Work Simulation or Completion of Administrative Skills Testing if applicable.
  • Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States. Lilly does not anticipate providing sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B or TN status) for this employment position
  • Demonstrated knowledge of electrical controls and electrical troubleshooting
  • Basic computer skills
  • Good documentation practices and communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Ability to work in team environment
  • Track record of maintaining a neat and orderly work area (good housekeeping)
  • Willingness to work outside of your craft, as required
  • Ability to follow written procedures while performing maintenance activities
  • Responsible for maintaining a safe work environment, working safely and accountable for supporting all HSE Corporate and Site Goals.
  • Experience within a regulated industry; FDA regulated industries preferred
  • Ability to perform quality work without close supervision
  • Proficiency in CMMS (e.g., GMARS), Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience in providing a high-level of customer service
  • This position is not permanent. It is for a fixed duration of two years with potential to extend annually for up to 4 years. The Lilly Craft Trade team does post jobs for full time status with job recruiting events for all eligible FDE employees.
  • Working safely is a condition of employment. Individual must be able to comply with all building gowning and SOP requirements.
  • The applicant will be required to carry a cell phone and respond to off-hour call-in emergencies when necessary.
  • Must be willing to work overtime during peak periods (e.g. spring and fall shutdowns, etc.). Schedule could change due to business needs for additional coverage during Shutdowns, training and peak vacation times.
  • Applicant may be expected to perform in various manufacturing areas.
  • US travel requirements are 5% or less.
  • Physical mobility and exposure to allergens should be considered when applying for this position.
  • There is also a possibility of working in confined spaces.
