You will be a technical leader for Indianapolis API Operations in the development, implementation and maintenance of environmental programs and processes. Your will be sharing your expertise and knowledge of environmental programs and systems to influence outcomes and strategies. The goal of this position is to ensure compliance and a robust control strategy for all of Indianapolis API Operations. You will be providing environmental stewardship for API manufacturing, lab, and administrative operations.
Some mentor-work will include:
Coach and mentor Environmental and Safety Representatives in aspects of environmental support including understanding of federal, state and local environmental requirements, problem solving, and project management.
Technical advisor on environmental programs for the HSE staff and operations and support personnel.
Improve environmental systems performance through opportunities to influence and advance individual and group behaviors and culture.
You will lead multi-functional teams in the implementation and integration of environmental programs across IAPI.
Your knowledge stewardship will deliver:
Identification of system gaps that impact environmental compliance in API Operations; you will drive solutions to address the gaps.
Tracking trends of key environmental performance metrics.
Implementation planning of key environmental training programs.
Technical expertise at the business level for business plan activities that may include: Pharma MACT implementation, Title V compliance activities, characterization of individual waste streams, environmental review of (and recommendations) plant capital projects, incident investigation, industrial discharge wastewater compliance, and evaluation of storm water discharge capabilities.
You will lead Program Development and Continuous Improvement efforts with:
Conducting environmental program assessments, and build technical and administrative solutions to improve compliance posture; including technical analysis of corporate and local environmental programs.
Lead and participate in corporate and regulatory compliance audits and inspections; including interactions with regulators, auditors and customers during assessments; lead efforts to address gaps from these audits/inspections
Lead and share input with root cause analysis and CAPA development and implementation for major environmental event investigations.
You will provide Business Support with:
Consultation to customers on environmental issues and be hands on to meet customer needs.
Local HSE management systems including participation in governance and committee meetings
Environmental business planning for Indianapolis API Operations; support other HSE business planning development and tracking (includes a 3 year environmental improvement plan).
Ensuring environmental services are adequately delivered to the local plant customer.
Leading initiatives affecting Indianapolis API Operations, including (but not limited to) Environmental Performance Annual Reviews and annual SARA Reporting.
Minimum 5 years of environmental experience
Bachelors Degree in environmental science/engineering, chemical engineering or science degree

Strong leadership abilities with proven results

Strong computer application skills.
Deep technical knowledge of environmental regulatory requirements with capability to evaluate environmental risks
Bulk chemical manufacturing experience.
Professional Engineer (P.E.) Designation.
You will be required to complete training plan for Consultant – Environmental – HSE – IAPI.
Tasks will require entering manufacturing and laboratory areas which require wearing appropriate PPE.
You will be expected to carry a pager or cell phone as position supports 24 hours/day manufacturing
