Responsibilities

Lilly Hosting and Cloud Services (HCS) runs the IT Infrastructure Hosting and IaaS Cloud technologies across the enterprise. This spans from our Global Enterprise Data Centers, through our Storage/Backups, Disaster Recovery, Server Virtualization and Server Operating Systems both on premise, and in our Lilly Private Cloud and Public IaaS offerings. Our Lilly HCS Engineers are responsible for designing and delivering enterprise scale private and public infra hosting services and solutions to the Enterprise in alignment with the vision, strategy and principles provided by the Enterprise Architecture & Cloud Strategy Team. Your role will include partnering and leading with other HCS Engineers to develop our Cloud Resiliency infra improvements included Air gapped restore environment, Ground to Cloud disaster recovery processes, cyber protected backups,  and improvements to cloud to cloud based recovery while ensuring the designs meet Lilly Technical, Security and Quality standards. In this capacity it is critical that the you have passion for technical details and communication skills and the enjoy educating and guiding others on the team, within IT about our Cloud based Cyber Resilient solutions

You will need to partner and collaborate with the Hosting leadership, IT DR lead, Info Security and HCS team to define an implementation roadmap that meets the objects. Finally, your role should partner effectively with Information Security, Enterprise Information Platforms, Network and Service Management teams to ensure Lilly is delivering reliable and secure services

In this role you will initially work with the Director of Hosting and Cloud Services and over time may become part of our Cloud Infrastructure foundation team.

The focus for this role will be to partner with Architects and Engineers across all Business IT in the following areas:

  • Design and implement of a Cloud Resilient Infrastructure Foundation.
  • Partner with DR SME and Backup Engineers to integrate into Data protection strategy
  • Partner with Cloud Foundation and IaaS Engineers to integrate into Public Cloud IaaS strategy
  • Promote and educate the Lilly community on Cyber Resiliency, Operating Guidelines/Principles, and Services/Solutions

Key Objectives/Deliverables

  • Develop Cloud and Cyber Resiliency strategy and lead first phase of improvement over next 18 months
  • Partner with the HCS infrastructure team to develop a continuously updated technology and service roadmap that represents both the near and long-term objectives of the organization
  • Actively build and stay abreast of emerging technology directions, work with lead team to guide the organization on how to interpret and best leverage emerging technologies.
  • Promote and educate the Lilly community on Cyber Resiliency, Operating Guidelines/Principles, and Services/Solutions
  • Design and partner with HCS development teams to develop automated, manageable, secure, compliant, highly available, highly reliable and fault-tolerant solutions
  • Work with HCS operations teams to transition developed services to operations
  • Work effectively across a global organization to ensure multiple delivery streams come together to provide a global capability.

Basic Qualifications

  • HS Diploma (equivalent) with 5+ years working in an infrastructure role or with transferable skills and experiences
  • 2+ years of experience in developing, implementing, or supporting infrastructure or cloud solutions to support Cyber Resiliency
  • Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States. Lilly does not anticipate providing sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B or TN status) for this employment position

Additional Skills/Preferences

  • Experience in global enterprise infrastructure solutions, partnering with service development teams to build services and transitioning completed services to service operations
  • Working knowledge of ITIL
  • Good collaboration skills.  Ability to work cross-teams, cross functions, cross geographies.
  • Advanced Experience with public and private cloud services including AWS and Azure
  • High learning agility to keep up with ever changing business needs.
  • Demonstrable high level of intellectual curiosity, external perspective and innovation interest.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to articulate complex technical topics to a non-technical audience (including senior leadership).
  • Ability to influence peers and senior leadership regarding strategic direction and decisions.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess customer/client needs, creatively approach solutions, decide and influence appropriate courses of action.
  • Expertise working in complex, diverse landscapes (business, technology, regulatory, partners, providers, geographies).
  • Experience working with Quality, Compliance and documentation standards; working in audit situations and knowledge of CAS and their processes.
  • Experience with driving execution through a team with real impact and solid outcomes.
  • Possess a “Can Do” attitude, with a view to moving the business forward.
  • Self-Driven, be able to communicate internally and externally across Lilly IT.
  • Demonstrated skill and passion for operational excellence and solution delivery.
  • Strong learning agility when it comes to technology
  • Exposure to SaaS, IaaS & PaaS Vendors and concepts
  • Exposing/Working knowledge of security frameworks (i.e. NIST)
  • Experience in systems development including Agile and Iterative development methodologies
  • Effective analytical, problem solving and investigative skills
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills & teamwork
  • Ability to communicate proactively and effectively with IT and business stakeholders
  • Ability to act as change agent and to take ownership of issues or opportunities until a proper solution is implemented
  • Strong self-management and ability to work in ambiguity

  • Capacity to dive into implementation details in problem-solving mode when appropriate
  • Ability to work in a global, virtual organization.
