The Lilly Genetic Medicines Team is looking for collaborative creative and energetic problem solvers to join a multidisciplinary team at the front edge of innovation.  You will join our fast-paced, interdisciplinary team as we utilize novel RNA/oligonucleotide based therapeutic modalities to enhance the Lilly portfolio. The successful applicant will utilize their knowledge and technical expertise to accelerate the core capabilities and development of internal RNAi-based clinical candidates. Do you have an aptitude for large scale oligonucleotide synthesis and have a desire to learn about RNAi modalities in discovery and development that focus on identifying impactful therapies for the patient? We want you on our team!

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Discovery oligosynthesis scale up group within Lilly Genetic Medicines.
  • Embedded within the leadership team to prioritize and accelerate Lilly RNAi Therapeutics to the clinic.
  • Work closely with members of the RNAi discovery chemistry teams to understand and validate requirements for synthesis scale up.
  • Actively support our efforts toward the discovery of lead drug candidates and collaborate with our CMC and Development team to develop and maintain optimal manufacturing and analytical practices for oligonucleotides.
  • Oversee and prioritize the work of contractors to meet critical timelines.
  • Communicate relevant information and results to chemistry team lead as well as other cross functional organizations within Lilly.

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS and/or MS in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related field with 1-2+ years of relavent experience in oligonucleotide chemistry.

Additional Skills/Preferences:

  • A strong understanding of best practices for oligonucleotide process chemistry from synthesis through downstream operations is desired
  • Experience, troubleshooting, and optimizing synthetic protocols on AKTA oligo pilot for solid-phase oligonucleotide synthesis is a must.
  • Strong laboratory skills and experience with analytical instrumentation such as AKTA, Agilent LC-MS and UPLC, Vanquish LTQ, Water’s QDA, etc.
  • Experience in developing new chromatographic methods (IEX/RP-HPLC, SPE, LC-MS). Ability to function within a highly interdisciplinary environment is a must.
  • Excellent record keeping and oral communication skills, good organizational skills, the ability to multitask, and deliver on deadlines is a must.
  • Confident, execution-focused, and team oriented with a desire to thrive in a fast-paced growing environment is a plus.
