Responsibilities:

The Marketing Associate will play an important role in creating exceptional customer experiences and driving business results through strong engagement and execution of brand strategies through Non Personal Promotion (digital) channels and at key scientific congresses.  The Marketing Associate will utilize modern communication channels within the customer workflow to help create a much more valued, relevant, and integrated customer experience in alignment with the product brand strategy. In addition, the Marketing Associate will be responsible for coordinating, planning, and executing congress related activities and exhibits for PCPs/Endos.  The Associate will work very closely with internal business partners and external agencies/vendors to ensure tactical alignment and consistency, and timely and flawless execution across all activities.  

The Product Brand Team is composed of both Lilly and BI Alliance marketers, working together as one team to lead brand strategy and shape the future.  Working in alliances provides unique learning and experience, and is viewed as valuable career asset.  This role can be based in Indianapolis or at the BI U.S. Headquarters in Ridgefield Connecticut, which is about one-hour north of New York City.  It will report directly to Jean Herlt, Product Brand Sr. Director, with strong partnership and guidance with BI NPP and Congress colleagues.

Key Responsibilities:

Non Personal Promotion Campaign Development & Execution:

  • Lead collaboratively with brand team through the Message flow/Content strategy, Channel Mix, Campaign Design, Measurement plan.
  • Responsible for HCP tactic/deliverables, provide input on deliverable / project plans and on deliverable creation, verify appropriate functions have been consulted, ensure deliverables align with brand strategy, are based on customer insights, and escalate issues as needed
  • Partner with brand team and agencies to ensure high quality campaigns on owned and 3rd party platforms – Creative Agency, Media Services/Agency, Digital agency, Digital Center of Excellence (DCOE), Analytics, IT, Etc. 
  • Oversee campaign execution, partnering with Campaign Marketers and keep brand well informed on progress.
  • Identify areas to optimize campaign such as customer focus, content adjustments, channel mix, and campaign engagement sequencing to improve customer engagement, customer experience or volume/ROI.
  • Collaborate with BI DCOE and other Lilly-BI Alliance stakeholders to identify and remove organizational barriers to designing and executing campaigns on new and existing platforms.

Congress Customer Experience Creation & Execution

  • Work closely with all brand, medical, and other internal teams to determine strategy, content, and ancillary tactics associated with each congress
  • Lead tactic creation/approval for, and support customer interactions at PCP/Endo conferences.
  • Partner with congress vendor, brand, medical, and compliance to design exhibits meeting business needs and compliance requirements in the most efficient and cost effective way possible, including aesthetic and structural consistency where possible
  • Work with internal business to create and implement measurement plan to quantify success and ROI at congresses
  • Coordinate planning with business partners to ensure congress activities are conveying a consistent strategy and brand messaging to customers
  • Participate in congress kick-off and wrap-up meetings and planning status calls with cross-functional business partners and vendor partners
  • Partner with business partners (in Cardiology/HF/ Nephrology, HCP, and P2P) to leverage programs and assets, where possible.
  • Build annual congress plan, including full congress list and budget.
  • Travel on-site, as necessary, to oversee the congress and to ensure successful execution of all congress activities  
  • Create, approve and provide on-site training to exhibit booth staff, including compliance required information and booth walkthrough
  • Conduct debriefs to address questions, concerns and provide feedback mechanism for improvement

Other Responsibilities

  • Participate, as needed, in cross-functional or other project teams; helping the overall business of the Alliance to continuously evolve and improve
  • Ensure a team-oriented approach to address business needs and build solid relationships across the Alliance.
  • Responsible for understanding, implementing and adhering to company policies, processes and external obligations, as applicable

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 2+ years of brand marketing experience
  • 2+ years of multi-channel and/or digital marketing
  • 2+ years of industry experience
  • Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States. Lilly does not anticipate providing sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B or TN status) for this employment position.

Additional Skills/Preferences

  • MBA Preferred
  • Completion of Lilly Marketing Academy
  • Demonstrated understanding of multichannel marketing principles; must have a robust digital or CRM background inclusive of acquisition, conversion and adherence/loyalty programming
  • Experience with planning and execution of integrated promotional campaigns across channels: digital educational, web, mobile, email, direct mail, peer-to-peer, sales force and social media and experience with SEO/SEM 
  • Experience leveraging data and insights to inform strategies and optimize execution of channels/campaigns
  • Entrepreneurial spirit with an ability to lead through the unknown and identify/evaluate new digital channels.
  • Ability to effectively influence, to gain commitment within team, cross-functionally, and across levels
  • Ability to work within a team and as a strong team player; alliance win-win mindset
  • Strong collaboration, communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with a wide range of internal/external partners
  • Experience in event planning or congress management
  • Experience with business planning process and budgeting
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills, including ability to handle multiple projects concurrently and drive projects from concept to completion
  • Working knowledge of compliance issues and regulatory requirements
  • Diabetes/Cardiovascular/Renal Disease state experiences a plus

Additional Information:

Travel Percentage: 25% (travel will vary over the course of the year)
