This position will support several Risk Management (RM) insurance programs. In this capacity the selected individual will work with numerous internal business partners (finance & accounting, manufacturing, tax, legal, HR, privacy, sales force operations, among others). In addition, this individual will work with several external business partners in the placement, brokering, and management of the corporate insurance programs. This individual will set direction and challenge our brokers, business partners and vendors to provide best in class service, risk management benchmarking, and appropriate recognition and marketing of Lilly’s business risks. This individual will also support the broader Corporate Treasury team in cash management, business development transactions, special projects and other unique activities.

This is a unique and challenging position encompassing leadership in finance, risk management, insurance, accounting and other activities. The individual in this position will be recognized globally as Elanco’s expert in certain areas of risk management and insurance. The individual in this position will be a self-starter, able to prioritize and juggle multiple priorities, be proactive in meeting the risk management needs of his/her internal business partners.

Key Objectives/Deliverables:
  1. Support corporate insurance programs using Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to drive performance. Activities will include benchmarking insurance programs qualitatively and quantitatively, identify opportunities to reduce cost and improve coverage, develop and maintain RM policies and procedures, procuring insurance via use of third party insurance brokers and consultants, communicating coverage to relevant parties, troubleshooting and resolving issues from internal business partners and external entities, managing and negotiating successful claims resolution, among others. Insurance programs in which this individual will support include:

    6. Fiduciary

    8. Employee Practices Liability

    10. Trade Credit
    11. Cyber Liability
  2. Provide financial and insurance support to internal and external entities for program renewals, claims management and other risk identification/mitigation activities throughout the year
  3. Lead the implementation and stewardship of Risk Management Information System (RMIS)
    1. Work with external vendor to establish, ensure integrity of data and maintain the system
    2. Develop reports to support all loss/claim related needs in RM
  4. Accounting Leadership
    1. Manage all accounting activities for RM
    2. Assist with the development of business case to establishing a captive for Elanco

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting or Risk Management

  • Adaptability to handle a steep learning curve involving the various risk management techniques and related accounting and financial implications.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, able to clearly communicate with peers and leadership.
  • Ability to handle multiple initiatives at the same time
  • SAP skills relating to financial activities
  • Strong problem solving skills are essential
  • Ability to establish credibility with external global brokerage and insurance industry and build long-term relationships.
  • Must be able to influence decisions and accomplish risk management goals across all affiliates and across multiple functions.
