Responsibilities: The Consultant - Tax Accounting & External Reporting is an exciting opportunity in a fast-paced Tax Department reporting directly to the Senior Tax Director. This position will collaborate with the Senior Tax Director on all aspects of Elanco’s income tax provision. Additional responsibilities include oversight of the external reporting process of the Elanco effective tax rate, the tax balance sheet, and the tax footnote, including SEC quarterly and annual disclosures. This position will work directly with Elanco’s external auditors and will be responsible for maintaining effective controls. This position will work closely with Elanco Corporate Accounting & Reporting, Corporate Financial Planning, and Treasury organizations. The role requires a comprehensive understanding of tax accounting in a multinational environment with U.S. federal, state, and international tax expertise. Applicants should also have demonstrable leadership experience and strong interpersonal skills, particularly given that this role has an integral role in relationship management with external auditors.
Key Objectives | Deliverables
Partner with the Senior Tax Director on all aspects of the tax accounting functions and lead the preparation and review of the quarterly and annual income tax provision computations
Provide support in managing the relationships with external auditors
Understand the business and related tax matters on a comprehensive basis and demonstrate the ability to factors these considerations into tax planning and forecasting
Provide leadership and oversight with respect to all tax accounting and effective tax rate matters
Ensure proper tax accounting positions are established in the course of the preparation and audit of the Company’s financial statements
Ability to assist foreign affiliates with the application of U.S. GAAP as it relates to accounting for income taxes
Oversee the SEC reporting and disclosures and tax reserve analyses
Support SOX compliance and documentation
Stay current with income tax accounting requirements and developments
Support the setup and implementation of Tax Provision software
Support integration of acquisitions
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
6+ years income tax accounting experience in Big 4 Public Accounting or multinational corporation
CPA or equivalent
SEC tax reporting experience

Strong tax planning and research skills
Broad knowledge of tax accounting under ASC 740
Ability to lead and work in a team oriented environment
MST/LLM or JD
Experience with SAP, Corptax Provision software and BNA/Checkpoint research programs
Strong oral and written communication skills
Excellent organizational and self-management skills
Strong leadership skills
Overtime will be required at peak times
