The Director of Financial Reporting will be a key contributor to the Elanco Accounting and Reporting team. The position is responsible for preparing accurate, timely and US GAAP compliant quarterly and annual reports for filing with the SEC, including SEC Forms 10-Q and 10-K. The position is also responsible for contributing to and reviewing all quarterly earnings releases and any financial related communications, XBRL compliance, audit committee and Board presentations and global technical accounting guidance. The position will have interaction with other members of the Elanco Accounting and Reporting team, shared services, treasury, tax, manufacturing finance, business development and international affiliates.

Key Responsibilities & Deliverables:
  • Serve as the Elanco Accounting and Reporting team’s leader responsible for coordinating successful SEC Form 10-K and 10-Q filings
  • Prepare portions of the earnings releases and affiliated presentations and scripts
  • Technical accounting guidance and deal execution and support with Corporate Business Development
  • Provide technical accounting consultation and advice to various internal financial groups
  • Actively participate in the evaluation and interpretation of changes in US GAAP and the impacts to our Company
  • Review exposure drafts of accounting and reporting issues that impact our company and industry, and write responses to the FASB, PCAOB and SEC when deemed appropriate
  • Lead the process for responding to SEC comment letters
  • Document, monitor and ensure compliance with internal controls in the business development and financial reporting processes as part of our compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley
  • Provide financial information and research to assist leadership with special projects
  • Lead process improvement initiatives

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
  • Active CPA
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in public accounting
  • Firm knowledge of US GAAP, global accounting and SEC reporting
  • Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States. Lilly does not anticipate providing sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B or TN status) for this employment position.
  • Firm knowledge of US GAAP, global accounting and SEC reporting
  • Solid technical accounting background with extensive knowledge of current US GAAP and SEC reporting requirements
  • Strong written and oral communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to lead and influence others
  • Recent experience with external reporting for public companies
  • Experience with large, multi-national corporations
  • Ability to perform well under pressure
  • Strong self-management and project management skills
  • Solid independent problem solving skills and ability to be innovative and creative
