The Director of Elanco Tax Forecasting, Reporting and Business Development Tax Strategy is responsible for forecasting Elanco’s effective tax rate and keeping senior management apprised of risks and opportunities related to the effective tax rate. In addition, this position is responsible for leading and directing all matters associated with business development transactions. This position’s responsibilities also include oversight of the external reporting process of the Elanco effective tax rate, the tax balance sheet, and the tax footnote, including SEC quarterly disclosures. In addition, this position leads the effective tax rate forecast for the company’s strategic and business plans. The person in this position will work closely with Finance, external auditors, and external advisors. The role requires a comprehensive understanding of tax accounting in a multinational environment with U.S. federal, state, and international tax expertise.

Key Objectives/Deliverables:
  • Provide leadership and direction on all Elanco effective tax rate related matters including tax accounting at quarter and year-end closes, as well as related SEC reporting and disclosures and tax reserve analyses. Lead and oversee all elements of Elanco-related SOX processes with no material issues or weaknesses.
  • Provide leadership and oversight with respect to all tax accounting and effective tax rate matters associated with forecasting processes within Elanco.
  • Stay current with income tax accounting requirements and developments
  • Ensure proper tax accounting positions are established in the course of the preparation and audit of the Company’s financial statements.
  • Provide tax leadership and advice associated with Elanco’s business development activities such as mergers and acquisitions, dispositions, licensing, etc.
  • Mentor and develop staff and encourage a teamwork environment.
  • Develop and nurture strong relationships with the leadership of the Manufacturing, Research and Development, Business Development, and other organizations within Elanco.
  • Bachelor’s Degree - Accounting, Business or Finance
  • Minimum 10 years income tax accounting experience
  • At least 3 years experience managing a team
  • Knowledge of tax accounting under ASC 740, FIN48, and APB23
  • CPA
  • Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States. Lilly does not anticipate providing sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B or TN status) for this employment position.
  • Big 4, law firm, or multinational corporate experience
  • Fundamental knowledge in U.S. Federal tax laws
  • Strong tax planning and research skills
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize multiple projects
  • Strong interpersonal communication and presentation skills
  • Juris Doctorate or Masters of Tax
  • Knowledge of global transfer pricing, U.S. international tax, and other tax laws
  • Requires travel on an as needed basis
  • May require teleconferences before/after normal work hours
