As part of the Sales Excellence team, the Sales Training Consultant stewards the North American Commercial strategy (with the intent to roll out globally) for new hire sales representative onboarding covering both selling and technical skills across all Business Units (Companion, Beef, Dairy, Swine & Poultry) including both US and Canada. Through partnership with Sales, Marketing, HR & IT, the incumbent is accountable for developing, facilitating and/or delivering needs based onboarding and continuing education curriculum to the commercial team, driving for sales excellence.
Lead, in partnership with BU sales leadership, development of overall onboarding training strategy, tactics and performance initiatives to drive agreed upon deliverables, with a focus on long-term skill enhancement for the sales representatives.
Lead development and implementation and technical materials covering both Elanco and Competitive products.
Coordinate Technical Consultant resources from the appropriate Business Unit to help build and facilitate specie specific training content.
In collaboration with Business Unit leadership develop and drive implementation of ongoing sales representative skills curriculums based on gap analysis of desired field sales competencies.
Lead (and facilitate) development of and review of content development for new hires.
Advise Sales, Marketing & HR in the selection of appropriate instructional modalities (instructor led, computer based training, vendor supported, and self-study) to meet business needs in the most efficient and effective manner.
Collaborate with Sales & Marketing on training development or selling cycle needs at commercial meeting platforms such as the National Sales Meeting and District meetings. Help develop agendas based on strategic training needs, organize responsibilities, and ensure implementation.
Develop, in conjunction with CRM Consultant, Sales Rep training programs for CRM and other sales tools. Drive execution of these trainings with a focus on enhancing selling skills and technical knowledge.
Set standards of excellence to assure accountability, including proficiency testing and incorporation of core representative competencies in Field Sales Targets & Objectives.
Lead content development, as well as on-going communication, to assure pull-through of training objectives by Sales, Marketing & Veterinary Technical teams, with the creation of a strong content including CVS selling skills.
Manage training resources within the scope of the role, including development of materials, use of outside vendors, and T&E.
Maintain an environment open to change and innovation, recognizing improvements in existing tools and anticipating new technologies to deliver world class training activities and to maximize effectiveness
Direct field sales representative training programs associated with both US and Global curriculum, collaborating with Veterinary and Marketing teams to assure curriculum development and training implementation, using resources to assure success.
Classroom facilitation of product technical knowledge to enable adult learning competencies.
3 years experience in pharma or animal health industry sales

Demonstrated excellence in presentation/training skills
Strong experience in strategy coordination and implementation across multiple functions and complex environments.
Experience in ensuring strong results through other via delegation and/or coordination of speakers/facilitators.
Experience with building training curriculum and coordination with 3rd party vendors.
Field experience in sales with proficiency in selling skills, technical knowledge, territory management and driving essential wins.
Strong facilitator experience in both small (<10 people) and large (>100) people audiences.
Proven experience is conducting needs based gap analysis followed by creation of implementation plan followed by training execution
Experience working with multiple training platforms, such as WebEx and LMS or iLearn systems.
Demonstrated excellence in written communication skills
