Reporting to Site Manager, responsibilities include
Personal commitment to safety
As a PLT member, a commitment to influence site direction and align the site and operations team to meet site goals
Lead and manage manufacturing operations and front-line technical agenda to safely supply customers. This covers all unit operations from Viral/Bacterial, Upstream/Downstream and Label & Packaging.
Accountability for Process Teams that operate, problem solve and improve operations within specific plants.
Lead cross-functional teams, with indirect reports, to operate, problem solve and improve operations within specific plants.
Establish Control and Reduce Variability
Ensure processes within each Process Team are compliant, capable and in control
Operate within targets set for critical parameters, efficiency, yield and cycletimes
Ensure operations are staffed to meet production schedule and technical agenda batches
First team is Plant Lead Team – align the technical agenda to site goals and activities in order to deliver the business plan
Integrate Operations, TSMS, Quality and Engineering resources as part of cross-functional Process Teams that own Safety, Quality, Cost and Cycletime targets and improvements.
Scientific and Technical Excellence
Develop a broad understanding of EHS, TSMS, Eng and Quality functional roles for leadership alignment within manufacturing operations
Maintain operational capability and lean capability within the operations team
Transfer best practices for best operational practices from network and other sites
Network and communicate with senior management at site and functional levels
Continuous Improvement and Lean
Focus on Customer requirements through the MSOE and House of Manufacturing
Lead lean management systems, especially standard work, huddles, Gemba, KPIs and RCA

Leadership experience of manufacturing operations, preferably vaccines
Experience of process improvement tools such as Lean, FMEA, QRM and Six Sigma
Experience in qualification/validation activities, GMP and regulatory audits
Experience in EHS activities and safety-partnership
Proven ability to lead teams without direct reporting. Three or more years’ experience in a leadership role.

Ability to converse in German and English
10+ years cross functional expertise in equivalent technical areas including Quality, Product Development or Manufacturing Operations, within the biopharmaceutical industry
Good planning and communication skills
Technical knowledge of the processes and equipment involved in vaccine manufacture
Technical knowledge of vaccine design and virology
Experience in operating at a Plant Lead Team level, including ability to teamwork with peers and lead department to achieve site goals
Experience of integrating and prioritizing functional goals with site goals
Experience with project management
Educated to degree level in a technical discipline (eg Engineering, Science)
Qualification, or equivalent experience, in process improvement methodology such as Lean or Six Sigma
