Our Neuroscience Next Generation Therapeutics team is an innovation-focused organization striving to identify, develop and apply the most cutting-edge technologies to deliver maximum benefit to our patients. Are you looking to be part of a growing, driven team where you will help to progress new therapeutic approaches toward clinical development and commercialization? Oligonucleotide-based therapies and other novel modalities represent an existing avenue of research toward development of the next generation of therapies.

The Neuroscience Next Generation Therapeutics group is a newly formed team with a focus on using novel therapeutic modalities to deliver medicines for chronic pain and neuro degenerative disorders. The team, based at our Cambridge Innovation Center in Kendall Square, will work with internal and external partners to identify and deliver new novel therapies into patients at speed. The team is seeking experienced and inspiring scientists to join our fast-paced, interdisciplinary team as we leverage innovative RNA/oligonucleotide/gene and genomic based therapeutic agents to enhance our portfolio.

Key Objectives/Deliverables:

  • Develop high throughput analytical methods using quantitative PCR (qPCR), droplet digital PCR (ddPCR), and immunoprecipitation to quantify in-vitro and ex-vivo RNA levels in multiple tissue types and cell-based assays.
  • Lead a team to implement the automation of DNA and RNA extraction from ex-vivo CNS, PNS and cell-based tissues.
  • Ability to perform RT-qPCR primer and probe design for target sequences.
  • Design, execute experiments and perform data analysis, crafting draft documents and presentations.
  • Drive the evaluation of external and internal capabilities and facilitate collaborations with external partners.
  • Provide conceptual insight into experimental design, integrated data analysis and communication of results to scientific teams and management
  • Generate novel target ideas and contribute to their validation.
  • Identify and procure automated equipment and enable establishment of the new state of the art qPCR labs.
  • Recruit, coach, mentor and actively grow the qPCR team.

Basic Qualifications

  • PhD degree in neuroscience or related scientific field
  • Proven track record in delivering ex-vivo biochemical based outcomes

Additional Skills/Preferences

  • Previous experience with oligonucleotide drug discovery is strongly preferred.
  • Expert in using qPCR and standard cell and molecular biology, biochemistry, and neuroscience techniques.
  • Ability to adapt and exercise flexibility for changing platform needs, workflows and projects.
  • Ability to design, execute and interpret experiments independently, and to advance scientific understanding.
  • Excellent communication skills and demonstrated efficiency in collaborating across functional boundaries.
  • Demonstrated experience in processing, organizing, analyzing and visualizing complex data and information from disparate sources and ability to extract insight from data
  • Familiar with Microsoft suite programs, and analytical software associated with methods.
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast paced working environment
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a great teammate.
