Our Neuroscience Next Generation Therapeutics team is an innovation-focused organization striving to identify, develop and apply the most cutting-edge technologies to deliver maximum benefit to our patients. Are you looking to be part of a growing, driven team where you will help to progress new therapeutic approaches toward clinical development and commercialization? Oligonucleotide-based therapies and other novel modalities represent an existing avenue of research toward development of the next generation of therapies.

The Next Generation Therapeutics group is a newly formed team with a focus on using novel therapeutic modalities to deliver medicines for chronic pain and neuro degenerative disorders. The group, based at our Cambridge Innovation Center in Kendall Square, will work with internal and external partners to identify and deliver new novel therapies into patients at speed. The team is seeking experienced and inspiring scientists to join our fast-paced, interdisciplinary team as we leverage innovative RNA/oligonucleotide/gene and genomic based therapeutic agent to enhance our portfolio.

Key Objectives/Deliverables:

  • Contribute to the development of complex IHC/histology/RNAscope based assays
  • Characterize antibodies, conduct reagent evaluation and perform reagent qualification/tissue preparation optimization assessments
  • Troubleshoot technical challenges and provide scientific and technical input to project teams
  • Liaise with statistics and bioinformaticians to ensure optimum design of experiments
  • Work within collaborations with external partners, academic institutions, CROs and consultants as required.
  • Maintain an awareness of new / emerging techniques and tools relevant to the field.
  • Design, execute experiments and perform data analysis, crafting documents and presentations independently, advancing scientific understanding.
  • Provide conceptual guidance into experimental design, integrated data analysis and communication of results to scientific teams and management
  • Generate novel target ideas and contribute to their validation.
  • Identify, procure and implement new automated equipment acquired for new state of the art pathology lab.
  • Recruit, coach, mentor and actively grow our Neuropathology team

Basic Qualifications

  • PhD degree in neuroscience or related scientific field

Additional Skills/Preferences

  • Proven track record in delivering neuropathology-based outcomes
  • Hands-on experience of histology, immunohistochemistry and in situ hybridization, including light microscopy & fluorescence microscopy, multiplexed formats, experience with image analysis software
  • Knowledge of relevant software packages: Halo, VisioPharm, Definiens etc.
  • Ability to adapt and exercise flexibility for changing platform needs, workflows and projects.
  • Excellent communication skills and efficiency in collaborating across functional boundaries.
  • Demonstrated experience in processing, organizing, analyzing and visualizing complex data and information from disparate sources and ability to extract insight from data
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced working environment
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a phenomenal teammate.
  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations
  • Previous experience with oligonucleotide drug discovery is strongly preferred.
