Our New Therapeutic Modalities team is an innovation-focused group striving to identify, develop and apply the most cutting edge technologies to deliver maximum benefit to our patients. In the RNA Team, both basic and applied sciences are vital. We are looking for creative and energetic problem solvers to contribute to a multidisciplinary team at the front edge of innovation. We are building state-of-the art expertise in major oligonucleotide-based modalities and delivery approaches, with an emphasis on innovative approaches with potential for breakthrough efficacy.

In our fast-paced, interdisciplinary team we utilize novel RNA/oligonucleotide based therapeutic modalities to enhance the Lilly portfolio. The successful applicant will utilize their knowledge and technical expertise to complement and enable core capabilities and help drive the revelation and development of RNA-based clinical candidates. Key responsibilities

  • Analyze sequencing data to extract biological insights such as mechanism of action, therapeutic strategy, and disease biology relating to RNA transcription, processing, and translation
  • Partner with others in the group to develop new analysis tools, pipelines, and methodologies
  • Collaborate between experimental and computational scientists
  • Contribute to study design and protocol development to enable novel experimentation
  • Visualize, summarize, and present results to partners
  • Work with the team to synthesize findings into measurable outcomes
  • Help derive RNA therapeutic statistical models as needed
  • Help with biostatistics analysis and experimental design as needed

Basic Qualifications:

  • PhD in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, Computational Genomics, Computational Pharmacology, Computer Science, Data Science, or related field

Additional Skills/Preferences:

  • ​Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a highly dynamic and collaborative environment
  • Experience in relating sequence, structure, and function of oligonucleotides
  • Programming skills in at least one language relevant to data analysis such as Python or R
  • Familiarity with gene expression data analysis / transcriptomics
  • A deep understanding of nucleic acid, cellular and/or molecular biology
  • Demonstrated knowledge of genetics and molecular biology, particularly relating to RNA
  • Experience in algorithm development, statistics, data management, data mining, machine learning, data visualization, and/or analytics are all a plus
  • Experience with RNA-based or gene therapies highly preferred
