Our Neuroscience Next Generation Therapeutics team is an innovation-focused organization striving to identify, develop and apply the most cutting-edge technologies to deliver maximum benefit to our patients. As part of the newly formed growing team, you will help progress next generation, oligonucleotide therapies and other novel modalities toward clinical development and commercialization.

Our Next Generation Therapeutics team is located at the Cambridge Innovation Center, focusing on development of therapies for chronic pain and neurodegenerative disorders. We are seeking experienced and inspired scientists to join our fast-paced, interdisciplinary team as we use new RNAi/gene therapy-based modalities to enhance our portfolio. You will contribute to establishing a state-of-the-art lab for in vitro lead discovery and development using various cell models and functional readouts with improved translational capacity. Responsibilities

  • Generate various types of functional neuronal and glial cells from human iPSC’s, primary cortical, spinal and dorsal root ganglia cultures.
  • Contribute to development of functional assays to validate targets and confirm and/or profile the activity of novel molecules.
  • Maintain various immortalized and primary cell cultures and perform gene expression modulation experiments.
  • Perform cell-based studies to support the characterization and evaluation of novel molecules for CNS and PNS applications.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and maintain detailed electronic lab notebooks and documentation records.
  • Manage interactions with external CROs partners to ensure access to relevant fresh tissue preparations and cell lines.
  • Provide conceptual ideas into experimental design, integrated data analysis and communication of results to scientific teams and management.
  • Assist in setting up and maintaining equipment in our new state of the art in vitro labs.

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS in Neuroscience, Cell Biology or related field with at least 2 years of research experience post degree or
  • MS in Neuroscience, Cell Biology or related field with applicable research experience

Additional Skills/Preferences:

  • Expertise with culturing immortalized and primary cells and their genetic or pharmacological manipulation; experience with neurons and iPSC-derived neurons is preferred.
  • Experience with nucleic acid purification from cells and tissues.
  • Experience in functional characterization of neuronal cell models is preferred.
  • Experience with cell-based assays, medium-to-high throughput assays and in using automated liquid/sample handling robotics is preferred.
  • Deep knowledge of current advances of RNAi/gene therapy research.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to work effectively in a highly collaborative research environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in processing, organizing, analyzing and visualizing complex data and information from disparate sources and ability to extract insight from data.
